Member education is central to the mission of the MSMA. Educational opportunities are offered through a number of channels, as explained below, all of which enhance the professional development of MSMA members. From networking with colleagues at our local chapter meetings, articles in the Mailbag Quarterly newsletter and the national POSTCRIPT newsletter, MSMA seeks to inform and communicate with its members. This chapter website furthers our goal to inform as well as facilitate communications between members.
Local Chapter Activities
The activities of local MSMA chapters are a vital aspect of MSMA membership. The regular NJ Chapter meetings include tours of members' facilities, seminars and guest speakers. These meetings offer a terrific opportunity for members to network, share ideas and discuss the industry. The Mailbag Quarterly is published four times a year. It includes informative articles, meeting announcements, classified section and editorials. The newsletter is written, published and distributed by volunteer members of the organization. Our chapter provides more than can be mentioned in this page. NJ Chapter members have contributed extensively to the growth of the organization. As members grow and share their talents, the overall professionalism of the industry increases. In recognition of our efforts, sustained membership and willingness to share ideas with others, we received the first, coveted Chapter of the Year Award. MAILCOM Conference & Exhibition
Another resource available to our members is the MAILCOM Conference and Exhibition, held twice a year. MAILCOM offers a comprehensive range of courses and discussions pertaining to the industry. Since the MSMA is a co-sponsor of MAILCOM, NJ MSMA members receive a special discounted rate to attend MAILCOM, and a portion of our reduced fee is refunded back to our chapter. POSTSCRIPT
Postscript is the newsletter published quarterly by the national association. Postscript accepts articles by members and outside experts on national issues and trends related to the association and the industry. Postscript also includes association news and MTAC reports. Learning Tools
MSMA and the NJ Chapter provide many tools to its membership. We distribute a wide range of educational materials, including books such as the "Guide to Professional Mail Management" and "Excellence in Mail Management". Additional materials include: video and audio tapes of MAILCOM sessions, MTAC materials, and management and training tapes.
